They chose me!! - Part 2: FHM's "Upcycling Challenge" 2024

The Fashion History Museum (FHM) in Cambridge, Ontario is holding another "Upcycling Challenge" and I am pleased that the FHM has accepted my application to be part of the 2024 challenge! Here is some information about last year's challenge: https://www.fashionhistorymuseum.com/upcyclingchallenge

My box of off-cuts arrived last week. The fabrics were... unexpected. I really don't know what I was expecting, but for some reason, I was surprised with what I received.

I've sorted through and catalogued the fabrics. My next post will include photos of each fabric. I'm now brainstorming about what to make from them and I'm preparing the treadle and practicing to ensure I still know how to use it!

Many years ago, my Mom taught me to sew. In the next weeks, I'll be sewing on my family treadle sewing machine.

Now I can not take any credit for the preparation of this machine. My parents are the ones who lovingly took the time and care to restore both the machine and the cabinet. Ain't she gorgeous?

This is what the cabinet looked like prior to restoration.

And here are a few photos of the machine. She's a beauty.
