In Ann's armoire

I am blessed to have people in my life who know I adore fine fabrics and appreciate historic garments. Some of these people have entrusted me with their some of their family artefacts.

Over time, I hope to document each piece.

Little Boy's "Sailor Suit"

My best guess is that this cutie is from the 1930s or 1940s. A neighbour of mine gave it to me. "No one in my family is interested in it", she said.

I do need to press it and posts some better images (without wrinkles).

1962 Wedding Dress

Below is a photo of one of many garments that I adore: a wedding dress worn on the Canadian Prairies in 1962. Not all of the accessories survived, but if my recollection is accurate, the dress was worn with a veil (that I have part of), white leather high-healed, pointed toe shoes, a classic string of peals, and a glove-like garment with no fingers.

Hand-knitted children's dress

I am told that this tiny dress was knit, by hand, by a gorgeous little girl's father. The father had quit smoking and wanted something to do with his hands. I'm guessing this must have been sometime in the early or mid-1970s, I do believe the dress has been improperly washed and has felted to some extent.
